Empowering Youth: Young Manipuri Council, Assam (YMCA) Concludes 3-Day Winter Camp in Sonai

Lakhipuronline Digital Desk, December 8, 2025: In a highly commendable initiative aimed at empowering the next generation, the three-day Winter Camp organized by the Young Manipuri Council, Assam (YMCA) came to a successful conclusion on December 7. The comprehensive camp, which was specifically dedicated to fostering essential leadership skills, cultural awareness, and physical fitness among the youth, commenced on December 5. The grand event was hosted at the Jyoti Bishnu Sanskriti Prakalpa Bhawan (Amuthoi Sangeet Vidyalaya) located in Chandpur, Sonai.

The three-day camp served as a significant and transformative platform for young minds in the region. It provided them with a unique opportunity to discipline themselves physically while gaining crucial, in-depth knowledge about their rich ancestral heritage and the modern leadership requirements needed to thrive in today's competitive world.

A Blend of Physical Discipline and Historical Insight

To ensure holistic development, the camp followed a strictly structured routine. Each day began with rigorous morning exercises and physical training sessions. This vital physical conditioning not only promoted health and stamina but also set a highly disciplined tone for the intellectual and theoretical sessions that followed throughout the day.

On the concluding day, the morning theory session was brilliantly led by Sagapam Merina. In an enlightening and deeply engaging presentation, she educated the YMCA participants on the rich and vibrant history of the Meitei community. Her session specifically focused on the historical migration patterns and the eventual settlement of Meiteis in the Barak Valley region. Beyond historical facts, she strongly emphasized the vital role the youth must play as future leaders. She urged them to actively preserve their unique cultural identity while simultaneously making positive contributions to the broader society.

Leadership and Financial Literacy for the Future

The evening sessions were meticulously designed to bridge the gap between traditional cultural values and modern professional necessities. Anup Singha, the Zonal Head of Slice Bank, conducted an interactive session imparting essential knowledge on Banking, Finance, and Leadership. His valuable professional insights provided the youth with a practical, real-world perspective on financial management, career planning, and professional growth.

Following this, Nongthombam Dhiren, a respected Advisor to the YMCA, addressed the enthusiastic campers on the core qualities required to become a reliable pillar of the future generation. He detailed the specific character traits, moral values, and dynamic leadership qualities that the youth must actively cultivate to guide society effectively in the coming decades.

"This camp wasn't just about daily exercise; it was about deeply connecting with our roots and understanding how to navigate the modern world as a responsible leader. It has been a truly transformative and eye-opening experience for all of us," shared one of the inspired participants.

Building a Stronger, Capable Society

The highly successful event officially concluded with an inspiring closing speech delivered by YMCA Advisor, Dr. Raju Khumujam. He offered the young attendees valuable advice on essential life skills and strongly encouraged the participants to implement the moral and practical lessons learned during the camp in their everyday lives.

The Young Manipuri Council, Assam, continues to shoulder the immense responsibility of guiding the youth toward the right path to build a capable, united, and robust society. The organization expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the local community and appealed for continued public support and cooperation for its future initiatives aimed at youth empowerment and long-term social upliftment in the region.
