Lakhipur Co-District Biodiversity Conservation Committee Formed to Protect 'Anua Pat' and Local Wildlife
Lakhipuronline Digital Desk, November 28, 2025: In a significant move to safeguard the region's environmental heritage, a decisive step has been taken to protect and preserve the historically renowned natural wetland, 'Anua Pat', located within the jurisdiction of Lakhipur Co-District. Recognizing the rapid ecological degradation threatening the wetland, its associated wildlife, and diverse bird species, local environmental advocates have officially formed a new organization named the 'Lakhipur Co-District Biodiversity Conservation Committee'.
Special Meeting to Prevent Ecological Degradation
To address the pressing issues of ecological imbalance and to strategize on saving Anua Pat, a special convening was held on November 23, 2025, at the North East Academy in Phulertal. The crucial event was smoothly organized and coordinated by Debashis Roy and L. Rajkishore, with Ch. Mohan Singh presiding over the session as the Chairperson.
During the meeting, prominent Environmentalist Sushila Sharma delivered an insightful and compelling keynote address on the topic "Biodiversity and the Government's Perspective," effectively capturing the attention of the gathered public. She elaborately discussed the urgent necessity of preserving natural resources, wetlands, and local habitats. Furthermore, she emphasized the critical responsibilities that the local community must undertake to combat climate change, prevent habitat destruction, and ensure a sustainable environment for future generations.

To effectively lead the mission of environmental protection and awareness, the newly formed committee unanimously elected its core office bearers:
