Lakhipuronline Digital Desk, July 22, 2026: Students who passed the HSLC Compartmental Examination 2026 have been given an opportunity to continue their higher secondary education without losing an academic year following discussions between student representatives, the Lakhipur administration and Nehru College, Pailapool.
The development follows concerns raised by the All Cachar District Students Union (AASU) over the admission of compartmental examination students. A discussion involving the Co-District Commissioner of Lakhipur, the Circle Officer and the college administration subsequently led to a decision allowing eligible students to complete the admission process.
Nehru College issues admission instructions
Following the decision, Nehru College, Pailapool issued an admission notice for students who have passed the HSLC Compartmental Examination 2026 and applied online for admission.
According to the notice, eligible students must attend the college for physical document verification and admission to H.S. First Year (Arts) for the 2026–27 academic session.

- Time: 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Venue: College Conference Hall
- Eligible students: Students who passed the HSLC Compartmental Examination 2026 and completed the online application process
The admission notice was signed by Dr. Laishram Bharati Singh, Principal-in-charge of Nehru College.
AASU welcomes the decision
The All Cachar District Students Union welcomed the decision and expressed gratitude to the authorities and the college administration for addressing the admission-related concerns of the students.
The union thanked the Nehru College administration, Co-District Commissioner of Lakhipur, Circle Officer of Lakhipur and SEBA for their cooperation in resolving the matter.
"We are pleased to see that, following the discussions and our continued efforts, this decision has now been taken to provide these students with an opportunity to complete their admission and continue their higher secondary education without losing an academic year."
The union also appreciated the response and cooperation of the concerned authorities in addressing the issue.
Special requirement for BPL fee-waiver students
The college admission notice also includes a requirement for students seeking the BPL fee waiver. Such students are required to plant a sapling and submit a photograph of the planted sapling during the offline verification and admission process.
Students receiving the fee waiver are also required to take care of the sapling during the academic year. A photograph of the same tree must subsequently be submitted during admission to H.S. Second Year for the 2027–28 session.
The requirement links the college's fee-waiver process with an environmental responsibility initiative and requires students to maintain the planted sapling beyond the initial admission process.
Admission opportunity for compartmental examination students
The decision is particularly relevant for students who cleared the HSLC Compartmental Examination and were awaiting an opportunity to enter higher secondary education in the same academic cycle.
For eligible students, the admission arrangement provides a route to continue their studies at the higher secondary level instead of having to wait for another academic session because of the timing of the compartmental examination and admission process.
Students who are eligible for the admission process should follow the college notice and attend the physical verification and admission process at the specified venue and time.
