Lakhipuronline Digital Desk, October 25, 2026:
When local students do well, the whole community feels the pride. This weekend, the people of Lakhipur had a great reason to celebrate. The Laitonjam Manidhan Ibemahan Educational Trust, based in Lakhipur, Cachar, Assam hosted its sixth annual award ceremony. The event celebrated the hard work and high marks of local Manipuri students who passed the 2026 Matric (Class 10) exams with flying colors.
Before getting into the details of the event, it helps to understand the background of education in this region. Over the past few years, the Lakhipur subdivision in the Cachar district has seen a steady rise in student performance. Passing the Class 10 board exams is a major step in a student's life. In Assam, these exams are managed by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), which sets tough standards for students across the state.
For students coming from rural and semi-urban areas, getting top ranks takes extra focus and late nights of studying. Government schools and private academies alike push their students to do better every year. But schools cannot do it alone. Local organizations and family trusts play a huge part in keeping these young learners motivated. By giving out public awards and financial help, these groups tell the students that their hard work is seen and valued by society.
The special award ceremony took place on Saturday, October 23. It was held at the residence of the late Laitonjam Manidhan Singha in Lakhipur Khunow. Trust Secretary Laitonjam Manishankar led the program and made sure the day ran smoothly. Family members, teachers, and proud parents filled the seating area to watch the young achievers get their rewards.
Many respected members of the community came to support the event and share their wisdom. The guests on the main stage included retired teacher Ingudam Binod, retired ACS Officer Kangabam Shantee Kumar, and MDC Assam Chairperson Mutum Reena. Oinam Biramani and Oinam Brajabidhu were also present. Adding to the educational focus of the day, Hazel Singh, the Head Mistress of Emmanuel English High School, attended to cheer on the local youth.
The Stars of the Day
The main highlight of the program was the students. The Trust handed out awards to several high-performing boys and girls. Earning perfect marks is no easy task, but five students from Emmanuel English High School in Pailapool managed to score 100 out of 100 in their subjects:
- L. Malemnganbi Chanu: District Topper (Scored 100 out of 100 in Mathematics)

- H. Roshni Devi: (Scored 100 out of 100 in Manipuri)
- K. Bikash Singha: (Scored 100 out of 100 in Manipuri)
Beyond these perfect scores, the Trust honored other top rankers in the region. Dev Singh Memorial Academy in Binnakandi was awarded for scoring an impressive 91%. From Royal Public School, S. Chingkheilemba Singha was honored for securing 86% in the exams.
Prizes and Future Plans
To help with their future studies, the Trust gave each of these bright students a cash prize of 5,000 rupees. They also received an official certificate of appreciation and a special memento to keep on their shelves at home.
"Seeing these young boys and girls achieve such high marks gives us hope for tomorrow. We want them to know that their community stands right behind them as they move forward."
The Trust members wrapped up the event by thanking all the teachers, parents, and guardians who came out to show their support. President L. Romi Singha, Treasurer L. Mondira Singha, Advisor Th. Manindra Singha, and L. Ibemahan Singha were all present to help give out the awards. Before the day ended, the organizers made a promise to the crowd. They plan to make the award ceremony even bigger in the coming years so they can encourage more students to reach for the top.
