Rs.10 lakh allotted for crematorium at Binnakandighat

Silchar, June 19: The Lakhipur MLA, Rajdeep Goala, at a programme held at Binnakandighat under Lakhipur sub-division allotted an amount of Rs.10 lakh, from his MLA fund, for the construction of a crematorium at Binnakandighat near river Barak recently. The Programme was presided over by Lakhinarayan Kurmi, president of mandal Congress committee of the area.
The MLA in his speech said, earlier the people of the area had to go all the way to Lakhipur tea garden cremation ground to perform the last rites. With the construction of a crematorium here, the problem will be solved.
On this occasion, a ‘bhumi-puja’ was conducted by the people of the area. After the ‘bhumi-puja’, the foundation stone was laid by the MLA. People present on the occasion included Durgakanta Pandey, Moinaboti Rabidas, Bikram Goala, Pritom Roy and Mukesh Singh among others. (Source: SentinelAssam)
