The atmosphere at the Jiribam Higher Secondary School playground was electric today as football enthusiasts gathered to witness the grand finale of the 20th Thokchom Radhamani Memorial Senior Football Tournament 2025-26. Organized by the All Jiribam Sports Association (AJSA), the tournament, which kicked off on January 30 with five competing teams, concluded in a thrilling showdown between R.Y.C, Ramgaijang and Sunrise Club, Kadamtala.
In a display of skill, determination, and tactical prowess, R.Y.C, Ramgaijang emerged victorious, defeating Sunrise Club with a scoreline of 2-1 to lift the championship trophy.
Match Highlights: A Battle for Dominance
The final match began with Sunrise Club winning the toss and choosing their side, while R.Y.C took the kick-off. From the very beginning, both teams displayed high energy, but it was R.Y.C who capitalized on their opportunities early on.
The star of the match was undoubtedly Rangue Daime (Jersey No. 10) of R.Y.C. He broke the deadlock in the 36th minute, finding the back of the net to give his team a crucial 1-0 lead before the halftime whistle. The momentum stayed with R.Y.C as they returned from the break. Just minutes into the second half, in the 43rd minute, Daime struck again, doubling the lead and putting immense pressure on the opposition.
Sunrise Club, however, refused to go down without a fight. Their persistence paid off in the 61st minute when Kh. Angamba scored a brilliant goal, narrowing the deficit to 2-1. Despite a fierce exchange of attacks in the dying minutes, R.Y.C’s defense held firm, securing their title as the champions of the 2025-26 season.
"The level of discipline shown by R.Y.C today was commendable. Sunrise fought hard, but Rangue's early goals set the pace for the entire game," remarked a local sports enthusiast watching from the sidelines.
Officiating and Awards Ceremony
The high-stakes match was conducted smoothly under the supervision of Match Commissioner V. Joel (Centre Referee), assisted by Sahjamal and Ikbal (Assistant Referees 1 & 2), with Kh. Nilakamal Singh serving as the Reserve Referee.
Following the match, a prize distribution ceremony was held to honor the winners and individual achievers. Rangue Daime was rightfully adjudged the Best Player of the tournament for his outstanding performance in the final.
The event was graced by several dignitaries who encouraged the players and organizers. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Asangbam Biren Singh, Ex-MLA of Jiribam Constituency. Joining him on the dais were AJSA President S. Maniton Singh, Jiribam Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tiken Thingujam, and the tournament donors, Thokchom Joykumar Singh and Thokchom Biramani Singh, who attended as Guests of Honour.
The 20th edition of the Thokchom Radhamani Memorial Tournament has once again highlighted the rich footballing talent in Jiribam, providing a vital platform for local athletes to shine. As the sun set on the Jiribam Higher Secondary School playground, R.Y.C Ramgaijang celebrated a well-deserved victory that will be remembered by fans for years to come.
