Miss Leishungbam Iris Devi Makes History as First Meetei Girl from Assam to Receive PhD in Psychiatric Nursing

Lakhipuronline Digital Desk : Miss Leishungbam Iris Devi, a proud Meetei girl from Assam, has made history by becoming the first Meetei girl to receive a PhD in Psychiatric Nursing. Her remarkable achievement was recognized by Gauhati University, where she was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree. Her groundbreaking research focused on the effectiveness of a Nursing Intervention Package for adults with Substance Use Disorder.

Under the guidance of Dr. Prof. Arunjyoti Baruah at the prestigious Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Institute of Mental Health in Tezpur, Miss Leishungbam Iris Devi dedicated her efforts to contribute to the field of Psychiatric Nursing. Prior to her PhD, she obtained a BSc in Nursing from Regional Nursing College in Guwahati and an MSc in Psychiatric Nursing from L.G.B.R.I.M.H in Tezpur.

Born to proud parents, Mr. Leishungbam Ibochou Singha and Mrs. Leishungbam Ongbi Manju Devi, who hail from Lakhipur Khuman in Cachar, Assam, Miss Leishungbam Iris Devi's success serves as an inspiration to aspiring individuals in the field of nursing and research.
