First RK Madhuryyajit Thang-Ta Trophy 2024 Kicks Off with Grand Opening Ceremony at Binnakandi Cachar

Lakhipuronline Digital Desk : First RK Madhuryyajit Thang-Ta Trophy, 2024, commenced its first day program on Thursday, May 23, at the South Barak Complex, Binnakandi Pt-2, Cachar. The Thang-Ta trophy was sponsored by Apunba Khorirol Malemgi Lup Imphal, while the Assam Thang-Ta Association organized the two-day event.

The morning session began with the ceremonial lighting of the flame, which was taken from Lakhipur Khuman Ebudhou Thongnang and handed over to Ningthemcha Sana Yaima at the Thang-Ta playground at South Barak Complex, Binnakandi. The event was graced by the presence of Wahengbam Binoykumar, the President of the Assam Thang-Ta Association, who hoisted the flag. Grand Master Huidrom Premkumar, the President of the World Thang-Ta Federation, officially inaugurated the Thang-Ta games.

Throughout the day, Thang-Ta players participated in various categories. In the afternoon, a felicitation program was organized, with the President of the Assam Thang-Ta Association, Wahengbam Binoykumar, and Grand Master Huidrom Premkumar, the President of the World Thang-Ta Federation, among the distinguished guests. Notable personalities, including Ningthemcha Sana Yaima, Ningthemcha Ongbi Sana Sija, Dr. Hamom Naba, Dr. Kh Gopal Krishna, RK Sanahal, and Thangjam Brojen, were also present.

The program featured cultural performances, including a pung cholom performance by children from Bantarapur, as well as Thang-Ta demonstrations by students from Eastern Sonai Thang-Ta Academy and Lakhipur Thang-Ta Academy. A total of 113 players from 12 districts will participate in the Thang-Ta Trophy.

The vote of thanks was given by Y. Manikanta, the Vice President of the Assam Thang-Ta Association.
