NABARD-backed Initiative Empowers Weavers with Skill Upgradation Training in Assamese Gamosa Weaving

Lakhipuronline Digital Desk : Under the support of NABARD, Assam RO Guwahati, and implemented by Youth Shining Association, Lakhipur, Cachar, a "20 Days Skill Upgradation Training on Assamese Gamosa Weaving program" took place on January 8, 2024, at Sanarei Weaving Center, Jharagul, Sonai, Cachar.

In the opening program, distinguished guests including Nirmal Kanti Das, President, Dakshin Mohonpur GP, Dinesh kr Gupta, LDM, Cachar, L. Harilal Singha, Assistant Director, Handloom & Textile, Cachar, Rabishankar Likmabam, DDM, NABARD, Cachar, and Nandan K Handique, BC, BMMU Sonai Block, graced the dais.

Rabishankar Likmabam, DDM, NABARD, Cachar, emphasized the importance of weavers' participation in the training program during the session. L. Harilal Singha, Assistant Director, Handloom and Textile, Cachar, encouraged weavers to stay updated with knowledge and adapt to the latest design trends.

The opening training program witnessed the presence of about 90 members from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) of Jharagul, Mongolpur, and Thangjamleikai, marking a significant step towards enhancing the skills and knowledge of local weavers.
