In a grim incident, the lifeless body of 24-year-old Samarjeet Malakar was discovered near a petrol pump in Udharband Six Mile area of Cachar district. The deceased, identified as the son of late Dhirendra Malakar and a resident of Udharband Hospital Road, raised concerns as drug containers and syringes were recovered from the scene.
Samarjeet, battling drug addiction, had recently returned home from a private de-addiction center in Silchar. Locals suspect an overdose as the cause of his untimely demise. Udharband police swiftly responded to the report on Friday morning, recovering the body and initiating further investigation. The deceased's remains were later transported to Silchar Medical College for a post-mortem examination.
