Tragic Road Accident Claims Life of Milk Seller in Silchar Bypass; Protests Erupt Demanding Compensation for Family

Silchar, September 21, 2023: A horrifying road accident occurred on Wednesday night in the Silchar Atal Basti area, resulting in the death of a milk seller. Sarju Goala, a resident of Atal Basti, tragically lost his life after being struck by a speeding betel nut lorry while cycling home after a day of selling milk.

According to eyewitnesses, a 12-wheeler truck, registered under the number AS-11-DC-8066, was traveling at a high speed towards Silchar when it collided with Sarju's bicycle. The impact of the collision caused Sarju to fall onto the road, resulting in immediate fatality. Outraged by the accident, bystanders quickly apprehended the truck and caused damage to the vehicle. Furthermore, they are demanding compensation for the grieving family.

The incident sparked heightened tensions in the area, with emotions running high on the bypass.

Upon receiving the news, the Sadar Officer-in-Charge (OC), Amit Kumar Singha, swiftly arrived at the scene accompanied by a large contingent of officers to bring the situation under control. Subsequently, Sarju's lifeless body was recovered and transported to Silchar Medical College Hospital for a thorough autopsy.

The local authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and assuring the public that appropriate measures will be taken.
