Meitankeisam Niranjan, Former President of AAMSU, Passes Away

Lakhipuronline Digital Desk : Meitankeisam Niranjan, the former President of the All Assam Manipuri Students Union (AAMSU) Central Committee, passed away on September 28, 2023, at his residence in Dudpatil pt. IV (Khoirelpar), Borkhola. He was 66 years old.

Born on June 30, 1957, Niranjan completed his education with distinction. He passed the 1975 High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination and the 1977 Higher Secondary (HS) examination. In 1979, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Hindi from Guwahati University. His academic achievements set the foundation for his future endeavors.

Niranjan began his teaching career on March 1, 1976, as an Assistant Teacher (Hindi subject) at Bir Tikendrajit ME School in Itkhola. Later, on June 30, 2017, he took on the role of Head Teacher at Chandramani Indramani ME School in Larsingpar.

Apart from his educational contributions, Niranjan served as an advisor to AAMSU for several terms and was also the Convenor of Meitei Imma Langei Lup (MILL). In 1985, he assumed the position of General Secretary of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) Cachar district.

During his tenure as Convenor of MILL, Niranjan played a significant role in addressing the Bisnupuriya issue and advocating for the inclusion of Manipuri language in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. His relentless efforts and contributions have greatly benefited the Manipuri community.

The All Assam Manipuri Students Union (AAMSU) expresses deep sorrow and offers its condolences on the loss of Meitankeisam Niranjan. His dedication, leadership, and numerous contributions will be remembered and cherished by many. May his soul rest in peace.
