5-member family goes missing in Sivasagar’s river Dikhou of Assam

Five members of a family from Guwahati have gone missing after the vehicle in which they were traveling fell into river Dikhou at Na-Dishia of Sivasagar district on Saturday evening. It has been suspected that all the members of the family have drowned in the river. 
A local informed that in the vehicle, there was 52-year-old Haren Bora, his wife 48-year-old Phunu Bora, daughters 21-year-old Chimpi Bora, Munmi Bora and Bora’s mother 86-year-old Panou Bora.
As per information, the incident occurred at around 6 pm on Saturday. It has been suspected that the incident took place when the vehicle (Swift DZire) in which the five-member family from Guwahati were traveling, skidded off the embankment of river Dikhou after losing control and fell into the river.
Sources said, “Haren Bora, who along with his family resides at Beltola in Guwahati, came to his parental house at Nakatani of Gaurisagar in Sivasagar. But when the vehicle, in which the five members of Bora’s family including himself, tried to cross a bridge over river Dikhou near Na-Dishia, it fell into the river losing control.”
“Some of the locals saw the headlights of the vehicle remaining on till 100 meters from the bridge in the river after the vehicle fell along with Bora and his family members,” sources added. Though a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel continues operation till filing of this report, there is no report of the recovery of the bodies of the victims.
