NYK hosts programme to develop leadership qualities at Lakhipur

SILCHAR, Mar 2: Nehru Yuva Kendra in coordination with Divyan, Lakhipur tea estate, held a block level neighbourhood youth parliament recently with the objective to develop leadership qualities among the youths to enable them realize their full potential and in process contribute to the nation building activities. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, has introduced a central sector scheme National Young Leaders Programme with its thrust on developing the skill and drive of the youths in order to have in them leadership qualities.

The youth parliament organized by Divyan which took place at Binnakandie development block was attended by all the active members of the different blocks. It focused on various central and state government flagship programmes and schemes. Held in Chotomamda ME School, the meeting presided over by Sashibhushan Tewari and attended by others, the stress was on raising awareness among the youths in particular and people in general. Saswati Deb, coordinator of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Cachar, presented her views about the various schemes which included Jivan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, Suraksha Bima Yojana and Mudra Bank Yojana.

Saswati Deb called upon the youths and the people present to take benefits of these insurance schemes. Sudipta Roy, credit counsellor of UBI, also submitted how these schemes would go a long way in reaching out the benefits and help in raising their socio-economic condition. He wanted such awareness camp in every village. Ganesh Goala, social worker, also expressed the same view. Ganesh Roy, secretary of Divyan Club, Swapan Sarkar, GP secretary, Putul Lal Yadav, a social activist, asked the youths to come forward and make the very objective of such efforts of Nehru Yuva Kendra successful.

Following clubs joined the awareness camp namely Five Start Club, Royal Club, Omkar Club of Binnakandie GP, Prayas Club, Janasakti Kissan Vikas Club (Pabda), Yuvasanga Club, Green Vivel Organization of Dilkhush tea estate, Subhasri Sangha of Motinagar, Youth Club of Ashralabuk, Star Club and SHG Binnakandie. Around 300 people were present in this awareness camp.
