The BJP ward commissioner from ward number 28 and the general secretary of BJP town committee Abhrojeet Chakraborty and former Vice-President of 1997 BJP run board Mitra Roy are also in the race. In its manifesto, BJP had promised introduction of a night ambulance service at a concessional rate, construction of a modern guest house in the town, streetlights with LED bulbs, a playground in the New Silchar locality of the town, an auditorium, at least two parks in the area, a modern art gallery in the town, online facilities for all works of the municipal board, besides it would lower the present betterment fee from Rs 100 to Rs 50.
