SILCHAR, February 13: The 36th foundation day of All Assam Manipuri Students’ Union (AAMSU) was celebrated recently at a function held in the premises of Bir Tikendrajit ME School located at Itkhola of this town. On this occasion, the members of the students’ body as well as the students from different educational institutes were present.
A host of speakers who included former adviser to AAMSU K Gulapi Singha, former general secretary Babu Singha, among others, underlined the importance of holding debate, symposium, discussion and seminar in different educational institutes for the students. They were speaking at the function presided over by the president of AAMSU’s central committee Seram Herajit Singha.
At the meeting, a resolution was taken that in the coming days, the brilliant students will be felicitated by AAMSU. The students’ body would also extend its help and co–operation to the brilliant students belonging to weaker section of the society. In this regard, a meeting of the former members of the students’ body will be convened to form AAMSU Student Welfare Fund.
The members of the organization condemned the death of a young boy Nido Tania from Arunachal Pradesh in Delhi. They demanding exemplary punishment of the culprits involved in the heinous crime urged the Centre to ensure adequate security for the people from North East. One minute silence was also observed at the meeting in memory of Nido Tania. (Source: SentinelAssam)
