Rongmei film Jirinmei released

SILCHAR, October 27: Rongmei film Jirinmei was released today by the Barak Valley Rongmei Film Development Society (BVRFDS) in a ceremony held here at the District Library Auditorium amidst the presence of a host of dignitaries including Lalringlien Hmar nominee of Lalthomlien Neithom, Chairman of the Barak Valley Hill tribes Development Council, Assam as the chief guest of the programme. Also present on the occasion were Lungthourai Pamei, Secretary of the Pou–Pei Chaapriak Research and Development Council, North East, Rev Dr KG Neilalung, President of Assam Rongmei Literature Committee, Pantilung Dahengmei, All Assam Tribal Sangha, Cachar District and Iraipow Gangmei, President of the BVRFDS.
In his welcome address, Powgui Rongmei, the general secretary of BVRFDS, spoke about the society which aims to promote the all round development of Rongmei culture and literature. He said the society wants to help in building the talent of the Rongmei youth and manifest their resource and energy for the proper utilization of the modern means of communication and technology. He further pointed out that the society has been working to make people realize the importance of the principles of peaceful co–existence, tolerance and the spirit of love and co–operation amongst the followers of different religions and culture. He specially thanked the elders of the different Rongmei villages who made it to the release of the film. The film Jirinmei which is directed by Gaigui Gangmei and produced by the Barak Valley Rongmei Film Development Society depicts the culture and traditions of the Rongmei community in the present economic scenario of the country. Gaingam Pow Ruangmei, Village Councillor, Ngaseluang, Kambuichung Kamei, Village Councillor, Binakandi and Langang Pamei, Village Councillor, Kaguilang were the special invitees to the programme.
