Cyclone Mahasen may hit NE

GUWAHATI, May 14 – A cyclonic storm named Mahasen, formed over the west-central Bay of Bengal has moved northward andit was found lying centred near Latitude 14 degree North and Longitude 85.5 degree East at 11-30 am Indian Standard Time (IST) today. The cyclone is likely to hit a couple of NE States.
Squally wind speed reaching 45 km per hour to 55 km per hour, gusting to 65 km per hour, is likely to prevail over Mizoram andTripura commencing on the night of May 16 for the subsequent 24 hours, under the influence of this system, RMC sources said.
This storm is expected to move in a northeast direction and cross Bangladesh coast between Khepupara and Teknaff, close to Chittagong during the evening/night of May 16, said the Tropical Cyclone Advisory No 26 ofthe India Meteorology Department (IMD). (Assamtribune)
