OBC Development Board commits to work for welfare

SILCHAR, Sept 17: The newly constituted sub-divisional OBC Development Board Lakhipur headed by P Rajendra Singh with 25 other members has committed to work for the welfare of plain tribes and backward classes of thesubdivision adhering to the objectives as laid down. The nomination of P Rajendra Singh of Singerband has been hailed by thecommunities, the target groups of beneficiaries, under the various welfare schemes.
The Board will supervise and inspect the distribution of scholarships granted to OBC students and advise the Inspector of Schools and other authorities of education department about the free sanction of studentship for the OBC students studying in secondary schools. It is also the responsibility of the Board to initiate bankable scheme on behalf of the Assam State Development Corporation for entrepreneurs of the backward class and act as a liaison between entrepreneurs and Corporation.
It is also enjoined on the Board to advise the government and local authorities for the general development of backward areas and all round socio-economic uplift of people of the classified communities, besides examining and supervising the various benefits extended to the target people. In order to ensure proper monitoring of the implementationof schemes, the Board, as pointed out by P Rajendra Singh, shall haveseating for at least three times in afinancial year. (SentinelAssam)
