Preparing students to meet challenges of electronic era

SILCHAR, Dec 16: “We are living in a world of accelerated changes, an era of globalization. The young are the citizens of a globalized world, children of the electronic era, the people of a net age. All this offer a great challenge to the educators”, observed Father Sebastian Palatty of Don Bosco School while addressing the assembly of teachers and students as well as distinguished invitees on the occasion of the inauguration-cum-demonstration of the smart class project and school medical facility today. He said knowledge is becoming an important factor in this age of globalization and the education and learning paradigms in the country is under pressure to meet the demands of the new knowledge and information intensive global economy.
The Father believes that the type of education required today is that which enhances the ability of students to access, assess, adopt, apply knowledge, think independently and to decide and collaborate with others. “The crucial task of preparing the young minds to be successful citizens lies with teachers and they have to move on decisively,” he pointed out.
He expressed his happiness for tie up with the Educomp Solutions in order to introduce a new vista in the teaching-learning process. The excellence among students is a great incentive and he hoped the collaboration of parents will help them lead on. He revealed LIMS solutions will begin work from tomorrow to computerize the school administration in its entirety. He said one of their teachers is selected to interface at the Dublin University of Ireland.
