Arms and ammunition recovered

SILCHAR, Sept 15: 11 Field Regiment of 57 Mountain Artillery Brigade under the aegis of Red Shield Division made an important breakthrough when in its latest operation, it recovered five kg of gun powder with cortex, four live rounds of 12 bore 70 mm and one 12 bore pistol. Before the Army could reach the identified house at village Dakshin Mohanpur near Kachudaram under Sonai police station, the miscreant made his escape good.
The recovery of explosives and other ammunition is an indication that the antisocial and anti-national elements despite strict vigilance and occasional operations continue to enjoy leeway for attempt at subversive activities. But, the Army is determined to keep such elements which often indulge in cross border crimes along Manipur, Mizoram and North Cachar Hills frontiers with Cachar under check. All the recoveries were handed over to Kachudaram police outpost. A hunt is on to nab the miscreant. (The Sentinel)
