Minister distributed one bundle of yarn to 894 SC weavers of Lakhipur LA constituency

KARIMGANJ, Dec 23 – Twenty-four thousand BPL people of Cachar district will get blankets under Asom Vikas Yojana, disclosed Dinesh Prasad Goala, Urban Development Minister while distributing cheques among the beneficiaries under various development schemes at Pailapool community hall recently. Goala asked the district administration to prepare a list of the below-poverty-line people of Cachar carefully.

The minister also distributed one bundle of yarn to 894 SC weavers of Lakhipur LA constituency. He added that in order to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the women weavers of the State, the Assam Government has decided to provide adequate qualities of yarn to three thousand women weavers. He alsodistributed 25 bicycles to 25 tea tribe students. Later, Goala distributed fifty blankets among the fifty people of Rajabazar village. Altogether 1,175 blankets had already been distributed at Rajabazar.

Launched: Under the auspices of the Karimganj district administration and 4th Bn of NCC, a mountaneering campaign at Ramkrishnanagar was launched by Dr M Angamuthu, DC recently. DC Dr Angamuthu also held a discussion with the leaders of Burmancommunity.

A meeting on mountaineering was also held at 911 Hrangkhal village LP School where officials of different government offices were present. The DC, in course of his speech, disclosed that a sum of Rs 5 lakh has been sanctioned for the renovation of the roads in Veterbond village. He also assured that a water supply scheme would come up at Veterbond village.

Vilagers raised allegations of anomalies in the distribution of Job Cards, IAY houses NRHM. The DC further assured the villagers that necessary steps would be taken to solve the problems of the Burmancommunity.

Later, Dr Angamuthu, accompanied by police, NCC, CRPF, BSF personnel and officials of various departments visited Halenpunji on foot. From Halenpunji they went to Paglacherra where the Hrangkhalcommunity resides. He held two meetings at Paglacherra where he urged the tribe community to come forward, to avail of government aid distributed under various development schemes of the Government and keep a close vigil in the implementation of the development projects meant for the tribe people.
