Three injured in tanker-truck collision

Silchar, Jan 7: A 10-wheeller oil tanker, carrying about 12000 litres of kerosene oil, collided with a 12-wheeller truck near Chiripool at NH 37, at 2.30 pm, last Tuesday. The oil tanker, bearing no MN 056-3276 was going to Jiribam from Silchar and turned upside down after colliding with the truck bearing no NL 01K-8887, which was coming from Jiribam after unloading sacks of cement. About 4000 litres of kerosene oil spilled all over the road. The movement of traffic was affected for around one hour. A police team led by Nobo Kumar Bora, officer in-charge, Lakhipur police station, rushed to the spot. Fire brigade joined the rescue operation. Three persons, Joba Singha (55), Nilolontho Singha (48) and Chittaranjan Singha (31) were injured in the accident. They were rushed to the nearest Immanuel Rural Hospital. (Source:SentinelAssam)
