Militants ransack businessman's house

SILCHAR, July 27: In a daring act on the midnight of July 16, a group of 12 to 15 armed militants topped the boundary wall of a well-to-do businessman Juma Khan and ransacked his house, looted cash and jewellary in his absence. Juma Khan has business in Haflong, Silchar and Shillong. At the time of the incident, he was in Shillong. Today, Naba Kumar Bora, officer in-charge, Lakhipur police station with his team, SI Atan Singha and 14 Bn CRPF personnel, carried out a search operation into the jungles of Tilka of Khasia Punjee and Swasti Palli of Alicherra. The day-long search operation did not yield any result and so no arrested has been made yet. The team also enquired the people about the militants in order to find any clue regarding them.
