Barak and its tributaries flowing below danger mark

SILCHAR, July 25: According to information from Water Resource Department (WRD), the water level of Barak Valley is flowing below the danger level. Though there is a rain forecast the water level is presently static at 19.82 cm. If it rains further the level may increase to 19.91 cm. There was a mild drizzle throughout the last night. The overall situation across Cachar is normal. The water level of river Barak at Sonabarighat, Uttar Krishnapur, Tanderkandi, Chandpur, Hatikhal, Jhulanpul Dholai and other flood prone areas is stagnant at present, the WRD confirms. The water level of all the tributaries of Barak in Hailakandi and Karimganj is also stated to be below red mark. (Source: SentinelAssam)
