Rs.5.4 crore allotted for development of rural area

Silchar, June 13: The foundation stone of the 1100 metre long Pabda GP Road Project, under Binnakandi development block, was laid recently by Rajdeep Goala, MLA Lakhipur in presence of Rafiq Ahmed Choudhury, SDO PWD (Road). The estimated cost for the project which is being constructed under the special package of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is Rs.1 crore. The project has been undertaken on a priority basis and is expected to be completed in the next 6 months. The ceremony was presided over by Uma Shankar Tiwari.
In this connection, a meeting was held in Bilbasa 1418 Tilka LP School where Goala said that people of Bilbasa basti who have given their land for the construction of the project would be provided houses under the Indira Aawas Yojana (IAY). He assured the people that electrification of Pabda GP would be completed very soon. He also said that after completion of the road project, the students of the LP school would be given cycles by the state government.
On the occasion, Rs.50 lakh was allotted for the construction of a road in Rongthal area, another Rs.50 lakh was earmarked for construction of another road connecting Gosainagar with Nidoi Manipuri basti. He also declared construction of a medical hospital at Rupaibali GP for which Rs.3 crore was granted. Besides, another grant of Rs.4 lakh for upgrading Titka nautchghar, a community hall, was also announced by the MLA. Hareshwar Dhobi, SC board chairman (Lakhipur), Kanta Prasad Rai, headmaster of the school and Pradip Kumar Dey were amongst those present on the occasion. (Source:SentinelAssam)
