Manipuri film fest concludes

SILCHAR, January 24: The 4–day long Manipuri Film Festival organised by Barak Valley Manipuri Entertainment concluded here recently at Gandhi Bhawan. The film festival was inaugurated on January 19. A good number of Manipuri films were screened in the film festival which earned appreciation from all quarters.
A discussion session was held during the closing ceremony of the film festival. Various eminent personalities were present in the discussion session which included N. S Ngangom, L. Surjakanta Sharma, chairman of the Film Forum Manipur(FFM), Kangabam Tomba, a veteran actor and Oken Amukcham, a film maker.
The film makers and dignitaries shared their experiences and views and underscored the importance of organising such film festival in Barak Valley at a regular interval.
Speaking on the occasion, the general secretary of the Barak Manipuri Entrainment, N. D Hodamba said that the BME will release a total of 10 video albums in the coming occasion of the “Assam Manipuri Mamigi Numit” which is scheduled to be held on April 1. He added that the committee is also planning to make Manipuri short films apart from documentary and feature films in the year 2015.
L. Surjakanta Sharma released a magazine namely “Samjirei”. Kunjalal Yendrenbam is the editor of the magazine who was also present during the launching ceremony of the magazine. The publicity secretary of the BME, F. Loknath Singha urged the youth of the valley to extend their support towards BME. He also requested the film lovers for their cooperation.
