Three arrested in Kalain rape case

SILCHAR, April 25: Members of the Forum for Social Justice and Aam Admi Party sought the intervention of the Deputy Commissioner into the alleged gang rape of a nine year old girlat Kalain under Katigorah constituency of Cachar district.
A delegation each from both the organizations met DC Harindra Kumar Dev Mahanta, demanding the immediate arrest of all the culprits involved inthe heinous crime. The members of the Forum expressed their disappointment at the comment of the Cachar Superintendent of Police Diganta Borah, who said that the girl was not raped. They questioned how the SP could make such a comment when thegirl was undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
They threatened the administration that they do not bring the culprits to book within a few days, they would resort tomass movement. The members of the organizations expressed their concern at the declining law and order situation in Barak Valley. The members of Aam Admi party also brought into focus the recent killings of two young girlsat Kumbha tea garden.
Meanwhile, the police arrested three suspects namely Nilu Das, Nandu Das and Aainul Hoque, thedriver of the auto–rickshaw which wasallegedly used by the criminals to forcibly take her to the crime site. Three of them were todayhanded over to Kalain police outpost by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Cachar District Court on a three day remand. The police arrested Nilu Das and Nandu Das based on the information revealed by Aainul Hoque during police interrogation.
The 9 year old girl was on a visit to her grandfather's house at Pechacherra garden, along with her mother and younger brother. While she was outdoor busy playing, two miscreants with their faces covered lifted her forcefully and made her sit in a waiting auto–rickshaw and took her to the lonely and almost deserted tea bushes of Kalain tea estate. She was spotted by a female worker of thegarden, lying disrobed and bleeding. She raised ahue and cry which attracted other workers. The nearest Kalain police outpost was informed and she was first taken tothe primary health centre of the area and then shifted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. (source-sentinelassam)
