Women's organization demands 12 cylinders a year

Silchar, Nov 12: The members of Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha of Cachar district committee demanded that the number of subsidised LPG cylinders for each household be raised to 12 a year from the present nine.
In a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar here today, the members of the Mahila Morcha said that six cylinders in a year would not be sufficient for every household. The memorandumsigned by its president Sushmita Purkaystha, Lipika Roy, Gouri Acharjee, Asha LataDas and other members termed the decision of the government to cap on six cylinders 'anti-people'. The members further said that they would not maintain silence against the anti-people decision of the government. The members wondered how the Central government had withdrawn subsidies on cooking gas when people were already over burdened by price rise ofessential commodities. (Sentinelassam)
