Now a helpline for guardians to complain against teachers

GUWAHATI, Nov 19: As perthe Assam Venture Educational Institutions (Provincialization of Services) Act, 2011, the State Government had asked the District Education Officers and theInspector of Schools to scrutinize the documents of employees of venture educational institutions whose services would be provincialized. The last date for submission of thedocuments by the District Education Officers and theInspector of Schools was November 15. But so far officers of three districts have submitted the necessary documents. Thegovernment has now extended the date till November 30 for submission of necessary documents.
A State-level review meeting of District Elementary Education Officers (DEEOs) and Inspector of Schools was held in Guwahati today. After the meeting, while talking to mediapersons, State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "The date for submission of documents has been extended to November 30. No documents will be accepted after that and those employees whose names are left out will not be considered for provincialization of services."
The Education Minister said that there had been complaints against teachers of LP and ME schools for not taking classes regularly. "We willdeal with this with a firm hand. We have started a helpline. Guardians can call up at the number 18003453525 and complain against such teachers. Action will be taken against these teachers," said Sarma. He added that those schools which had no students would be closed down after January 1, 2013.
He further said that underthe Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, computerized monitoring of high schools and highersecondary schools would be introduced from January 1, 2013.
He also assured that the 12,000 posts of teachers which were lying vacant in LP, ME and high schools across the State would be filled up within this year. (SentinelAssam)
