Bharambaba Mela kicks off

SILCHAR, Nov 27: The three-day-long Bharambaba Mela started at Silkuri, 20 km from here, under Sonai constituency of Cachar district this morning. Former Union Minister, Santosh Mohan Dev, inaugurated the 70th fair.
Started in 1942, the fair which see a large turnout of devotees every year. 'Bharambaba' is considered as the part of Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma. The sanyasis and sadhus from all across thecountry flock to the place during the mela.
The temple of Bharambaba is one of the popular places for the devotees. The devotees from all across Barak Valley gathered and offered prayers to Bharambaba. The puja is being performed throughout day and night amid rendition of mantrasfor three days.
Among others present on the inauguration of the fair included Bijyendra Singh Rathod, Bula Jadav, Baresh Goala. (SentinelAssam)
