Bank employee in CBI net

SILCHAR, April 21: A four-member team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) led by inspector Lal Phanglien raided the residential house of Rajan Sharma (50) located in the west market area of the sub-divisional town of Lakhipur, 45 km from here, today in the morning hours. According toa police source, the CBI was assisted in its operation by ateam of police men under the command of sub-inspector of Lakhipur police station, Arjun Singh.
The source said Rajan Sharma, an employee with the Jiribam branch of UBI in the state of Manipur, was suspended from service due to his questionable money transactions. It amounted tofraud with the intention of cheating the financial organization. An FIR was lodged against him by the authority of the bank with CBI vide reference No. 2004/us 420/467/472/120 B in 2004.
Though details about the money transactions by Sharma could not be known,it is suspected that he had been involved in deals for quite some time before it came to the notice of the authorities concerned. He was taken to the Northeast headquarters of CBI at Shillong for further grilling and investigation, the source pointed out. (source: SentinelAssam)
