SILCHAR, March 2: Assam Manipuri Kala Akademi organized a 10-day workshop on 'Manipuri nata-sankirtan' from February 20 to March 1 which was conducted by eminent exponent of music Lishram Ibohanmacho, senior lecturer of JNM Dance Akademi, Imphal, and Thongram Sanatomba, mridanga specialist. On the concluding day of the workshop, a total number of 18 participants presented 'nata-sankirtan' in the premises of Itkhola Radha Madhab Mandir which earned high appreciation and applaud from the audiences and lovers of art and culture.
Looking at the success of the workshop and the enthusiasm among the participants as well as the audience, the Akademi here decided to hold such workshop at different places of Barak Valley. Co-operation and necessary help from the people were assured by the campaigners of this classic form of Manipuri music. M Nandakishore, secretary, Assam Manipuri Kala Akademi, based at Itkhola Manipuri Para, assured that keeping in tradition such workshop would be conducted in future as well. (sentinelassam)
