SILCHAR, Oct 1: Various prohibitoryorders under 144 CrPC have been promulgated by the District Magistrate of Cachar in order to ensure peaceful celebration of Durga Puja across the district. It restricts pillion riding on bikes and two-wheelers. It however willnot apply in respect of a jawan on active service, women and children below the age of 12. Extortions or forcible collection of money in the name of Puja subscriptions would be dealt with strictly. If any Puja committee or its organizers hold any game of dice or similar other kind of game would also face legal action.
The order at the same time restricts the sale of fire crackers and other objects which cause noise pollution, besides nobody should move with arms and ammunition. (SentinelAssam)
