Yoga and naturopathy now the only answer to keep fit and healthy

SILCHAR,Aug 19: "Yoga and naturopathy and its contributions towards the health care of people have become quite necessary and relevant, considering the ever increasing cases of chronic diseases today", said Kabindra Purkayastha, MP, while inaugurating the programme 'National campaign on yoga and naturopathy for holistic health' today under the aegis of Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy; department of Ayush, Union Ministry of Health and Family Planning; in collaboration withAngautan Nature Cure and Yoga Research Hospital, Rongpur; NortheastYoga and Naturopathy Centrem, Guwahati; Guwahati Centre for Yoga and Naturopathy Survey; Indian Naturopathy and Yoga Medical Association and Northeast Council of Alternative Medicines.
Purkaystha, addressing the meeting held at Gandhi Bhawan here said, "It has been in the fitness of thing that this workshop has been organized to create awareness about yoga and naturopathy which is gaining popularity."
Naturopathy is a way of life which finds references in the Vedas and other scriptures. The whole practice ofnaturopathy is based on the three principles of accumulation of morbid matter, abnormal composition of blood and lymph as well as lowered vitality.
Dr. Bibhash Deb of Assam University, who was the guest of honour, pointedout that naturopathy includes all the available non-invasive treatments and diagnostic modalities which do not interfere with the natural functioning capacity of the body and the healing process is in accordance with nature's constructive principles.
Dr. K Basanta Singha, CMO of Ayush Hospital, Imphal, said a number of research projects on yoga and naturopathy are being conducted at various premier medical institutions. So far, 30 research projects have beencompleted and the findings of these researched works are applied to yogaand naturopathy run by the Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy.
Dr. Bolin Hazarika, CMO, laid stress on mental health and happiness through yoga. Dr. M Shanti Kumar Singha, CMO,Angautan Nature Cure and Yoga Research Hospital, Rongpur, Silchar, atthe outset explained the objective of this national campaign.
