Shramik union threatens agitation if Goala not inducted as minister

SILCHAR, May 30: The Cachar Cha Shramik Union (CCSU) today announced that it would go for agitation if its general secretary Dinesh Prasad Goala was not reinducted in the State Cabinet. This decision was taken at an emergent meeting held at the union office here.
The powerful union urged Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to review his decision and to induct Goala as Cabinet minister. Goala, however, toldThe Sentinel that he had learnt about the decision of the union and he no comment to make on it. Manilal Goala, the newly elected MLA from Patharkandi said, since the issue involved Goala himself, he was not present at the meeting. On the other hand, Goala said that his exclusion from the ministry was an insult to Cachar district. This time, the Congress had won six out of seven constituencies, and in return the district had got only one minister, that too, a deputy one. "We deserve at least two Cabinet ministers from Cachar," demanded Goala, who had been representing the Lakhipur LAC for seven consecutive terms. Goala said that he had been a victim of a deep-rooted conspiracy, though he did not elaborate who had hatched the plot. Goala said, his name did figure in the list of the ministers in thefirst stage, but later it was struck off. He admitted that Gogoi did not even inform him earlier about his exclusionfrom the Council of Ministers. "I will talk to the Chief Minister on June 5 and express my anguish," Goala said. He said that he was entrusted with theelection responsibility of the entire Barak Valley, and this time the Congress got an extra-ordinary resultsby winning six out of seven seats. "It was indeed an unfortunate that Cachar has got only one Minister of State" Goala lamented. He at the same time reminded that he would seek nomination for 2014 Lok Sabha election from Silchar.
