Manipuri short story, writers’ meet

SILCHAR, Dec 26: The two-day 17th national-level Manipuri short story reading and writers’ meet which was held in Agartala organized by Manipuri Short Story Society and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad and sponsored by Sahitya Akademi Kolkata concluded today. The meet began with the hoisting of flag and floral homage to the departed souls of the writers and martyrs. It was followed by general body meeting of the masses under the presidentship of S Tonubabu Singh.
K Bidyapati Singh, general secretary, MASS, read out his secretarial report which initiated discussion on the organization matters. The two-day meet was marked by short story reading, release of Society’s compilation book entitled Ehawrakpa. S Tomba Singh was the moderator in the first session of the short story reading. Following day the meet was graced by Dr N Khogendra Singh, convener Manipuri language advisory board and Dr Ramkumar Mukhapadhyay. The key note address was delivered by K Bidyapati Singh. Besides many other eminent scholars of Manipuri language and literature including Dr W Raghumani Singh of Assam University graced the occasion. (Sentinelassam)
