SILCHAR, Nov 19: A grand meet of Barak Valley based farmers has been organized on November 22 and 23 by the Agriculture Department on the premises of Normal School. Around 3,000 farmers from the three districts of this valley will participate in the first ever congregation. Besides Pramila Rani Brahma, Minister of Agriculture, WPT and BC, Legislatures of Cachar, agricultural scientists and experts as well as State Government officials would grace the occasion by their presence. BP Bhattacharjee, district agriculture officer, shared this information with mediapersons at a press meet here today.
Bhattacharjee said the two-day meet would deliberate over related matters concerning agriculture and the latest technology concerned. He described the event quite significant as it would provide an opportunity to the farmers to know all about the application of modern technology, incentives and other methods for improving the overall agriculture, increased production and its participative role in ameliorating their socio-economic condition.
He added to say that agriculture development in the State has come to a definite stage to contribute to the economy. Against this backdrop as he said such informative and enlightening meets have been arranged at regional-levels at many places in the State. He was confident this would bring about positive change in the agriculture scenario.
Scientists, specialists and officials would exchange views and opinions in the discussion session. So that farmers could get information on the subjects they want, there would be interactive session also. In order to make the meet lively, training, workshop and exhibition have also been included. It would be a meet that would open the vista of knowledge for the farmers of this valley for their own benefit and the State as a whole.
