SILCHAR, Sept 29: The District Magistrate of Cachar district in a press release has promulgated 144 CrPC in the entire Cachar district in view of the announcement to be made by the Allahabad High Court on Thursday, in respect of the dispute over the Ayodhya Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid. The order is promulgated apprehending peace and tranquility in the district, which prohibits meeting of five or more persons in public place. Other than Army, paramilitary force and police personnel on duty, movement with arms, ammunition, fire arms, lathi, stone or any arms which can injure people are strictly prohibited. All types of procession, bursting of crackers, any instrument creating high sound are also prohibited by the order. In Lakhipur, a 21-member peace committee has been formed today with Haji Hayat Ali as president and Pradeep Dey as general secretary. The committee would oversee the law and order situation in the subdivision. (The Sentinel)
