Six hurt in Ghari steel factory bomb attack, two critical

IMPHAL, Aug 6: Six persons including the proprietor of Aruna Enterprises Iron and Steel Industry situated at Ghari Mayai Leikai and a lady were injured this evening when unidentified persons lobbed a hand grenade at the gate of Aruna Enterprises under Lamphel Police Station at around 6:45 pm.
All the six injured were initially admitted to RIMS today evening. However, two out of the six were later referred to the Shija hospital for further treatment as they are stated to be in critical condition.
The six injured have been identified as four workers of the Aruna Enterprises along with its proprietor, and the injured woman has been identified as a passer-by.
The two critically injured workers have been identified as Naocha, 21, of Keirak, and Heikrujam Mahadeva Singh, 25, son of Late H Supardeva of Sagolband NRL petrol pump, while the women has been identified as Haobijam Pakpi, 40, wife of H Tomba Singh of the locality.
The injured proprietor has been identified as Akham Ranjandeva Singh, 31, son of A Ingo of Mabudhou Mandir Leikai and the other two injured workers have been identified as Heikrujam Loken Singh, 30, son of H Ghanashyam of Sagolbad Thangjam Leikai and Meisnam Tiken Singh, 28, son of M Iboton Singh of Kumbi IB road.
According to sources, it is yet to be ascertained who was behind the attack as it has been stated that there had been no monetary demands or threats to the family.
A FIR has been lodged at the concerned police station regarding the bomb attack for further investigation.
Meanwhile, in another bomb attack, a hand grenade was lobbed at the residence of the project officer of the social welfare department, S Achouba of Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak today morning at around 6:30 am under City Police.
However, the bomb failed to explode and it has been confirmed that a FIR has been lodged at the concerned police station regarding the attack for further investigation. (IMPHALFREEPRESS)
