SILCHAR, July 4: The body of a businessman was recovered from a pond near Silchar Sadar Thana recently. The deceased has been identified as Kanchan Paul (51) and he ran a stationary shop in the Fatakbazar area of Silchar.
The body of Kanchan Paul was identified by his nephew Abhijit Paul. Abhijit Paul filed an FIR in the Sadar Thana owing to the death of his uncle, but did not mention whether it was an accidental death, suicide or homicide. Though the final report is still waiting the postmortem tests, Kanchan Paul’s sudden death has aroused suspicion in the minds of the town people.
Kanchan Paul has left behind his wife, a college-going daughter and a son reading in class-VI at present.
