SILCHAR, July 7: The Cachar Human Rights Association in a press release alleged the people of Udharbond are facing serious environmental degradation due to the setting up of the Panchgram Paper Mill in the area. With the inception of the paper industry in Udharbond, the nearby areas have undergone a serious environmental change as the whole area is facing problems due to pollution.
Expressing their concern on the issue, the members of the commission stated the environmental degradation is affecting public health in the area seriously. Therefore, the commission has sought intervention of the district officials asking their attention on the issue. Otherwise the commission would be bound to take legal actions.
