SILCHAR, July 3: As the body of Bimalangshu Roy reached Kumbhirgram airport at around 2.15 pm on Friday, MP Kabindra Purkayastha, Borkhola MLA Rumi Nath, Dhalai MLA Parimal Suklabaidya, district BJP president Uday Shankar Goswami, Algapur former MLA Sahidul Alom Chadhoury and many BJP leaders and common people reached there among many admirers and supporters of the late leader who accompanied him in his last funeral procession.
Reaching Silchar, the procession first went to the BJP party office, then to the District Bar Association, then to Narisikshashram and finally reached the late leader’s house before his cremation.
As soon as the body of Bimalangshu Roy reached Silchar, all shops and business establishments were closed for an hour as a mark of respect to the departed leader. Late Bimalangshu Roy was also an advocate and therefore, the Bar Associates of Silchar paid their respect by presenting flower bouquets and paying obeisance to the deceased leader. Sources said, an obituary meeting of the citizen’s forum would be held shortly to mark the demise of the late leader.
Sources from Guwahati added that, Indramani Borah, Narayan Barkotoky, Harekrishna Bharali, P Chandra Sekhar were among the few senior leaders who accompanied the body of Bimalangshu Roy from Guwahati to Silchar.
